In the summer of 2011, an ordinary bra named Pinkie embarked on an extraordinary journey. Her story began when photographer Michelle Bryant packed Pinkie into her camera bag for a day cruise to Shell Island, just off the coast of Panama City. Michelle had a playful vision: Pinkie would become a traveling bra, making appearances in every fascinating place Michelle’s lens captured.
As Michelle explored Shell Island, Pinkie posed for several photos. But in the excitement of departure, disaster struck – Michelle realized she had misplaced Pinkie somewhere on the island. The boat captain kindly offered to wait while Michelle raced against time and setting sun to find her lost bra. Breathless and relieved, Michelle retrieved Pinkie and rushed back to the boat. The delay piqued the curiosity of fellow passengers, and soon the whole boat was buzzing with the tale of the traveling bra.
In that moment, Michelle discovered Pinkie’s higher purpose: to spread awareness about breast cancer. Though Pinkie doesn’t accompany Michelle on every adventure, each October for Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Pinkie emerges, starting conversations, and proudly sharing her mission with everyone she meets.
